Staying healthy involves more than just eating well and exercising regularly. Your eye health is also important. Many people overlook annual eye exams and think they only need to visit the optometrist if they are having vision problems. It is important to have your eyes assessed annually. This gives an eye doctor the chance to correct your vision and diagnose eye diseases. At Amplified Vision, we have provided residents of Abilene, TX with reliable eye care services for many years.

Who Needs Eye Exams?

If you want to protect your eye health and your vision for years to come, you should schedule yearly eye exams. An eye exam is different from a simple vision screening. While a vision screening will only check your vision, an eye exam will check the overall health of your eyes. This exam will also check for serious eye health conditions.

Eye Conditions

Dr. Grant treats the following conditions and more.

  • Glaucoma: This serious eye problem is caused by nerve damage to the optic nerve. Glaucoma rarely shows up as a vision problem at first. Dr. Grant can screen you for glaucoma by administering an eye pressure test during your eye exam.
  • Dry Eyes: Although dry eyes will not initially affect your vision, they can be an annoying problem to deal with. If left untreated, dry eyes can start to affect your eye health. When eyes are not properly moistened, it can lead to damage to the cornea over time.
  • Computer Vision: Computer vision is a condition that is affecting more and more people as we spend more and more time on screens. Although it is almost impossible to avoid time on screens, there are things you can do to protect your vision and decrease the effects of the screen. We can screen you for problems related to screen use. Blue light-blocking glasses are a great way to combat the effect of screens on your eyes. You can talk with Dr. Grant to find out what types of interventions are available for computer vision.
  • Vision Problems: If it is determined after your vision exam that you are experiencing vision problems, Dr. Grant will be able to prescribe corrective lenses for you. You can also choose frames right on site. Contact lenses can also be discussed if you prefer.
